Favorite Fresh Fruit Sangria Drink Recipe
An authentic homemade southwestern fresh fruit sangria drink recipe. Typically, Sangria is made with red wine, some fresh, seasonal fruit and a bit of carbonated water or flavored soda. It is quick and easy to make and a big hit at summer get togethers - even for those who are not "into wine."

The great thing about a basic Sangria recipe is that it is as delicious as it is easy, and it only gets better as you spice it up with your own ideas and additions! It is hard to add the "wrong" ingredient, if you have a favorite fruit or liquor, give it a try. Chill (best if chilled overnight so the flavors can mingle) and enjoy! Welcome to our kitchen.

I N G R E D I E N T S:

  • 1 Bottle of red wine (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Rioja, Zinfandel, Shiraz)
  • 1 Lemon cut into wedges
  • 1 Orange cut into wedges
  • 1 Lime cut into wedges
  • 2 Tbsp sugar
  • 1/4 Cup of orange juice
  • 1 Cup of sliced strawberries or raspberries (optional)
  • 1 Shot brandy or gin
  • 2 Cups ginger ale, lemon/lime or club soda

"How to make Sangria" I N S T R U C T I O N S

Pour wine in the pitcher and squeeze the juice from the lemon, lime and orange wedges into the wine.
Toss in the fruit wedges (leaving out as many seeds as possible).
Add sugar and brandy.
Chill overnight (recommended). If you can't, see below.
Add ginger ale, lemon/lime or club soda just before serving.
Pour over a small amount of ice in your favorite glasses.
If you'd like to serve right away, use chilled red wine and serve over lots of ice.

Additional fruit ideas: sliced strawberries, peaches, fresh blueberries, raspberries, kiwi or even apples and bananas.
Hint: remember that the best Sangrias are chilled around 24 hours in the refrigerator - allowing the flavors to really marinate into each other.
